Author Biography

Ciara Mandulee Mendis, Department of Cultural Affairs

Ciara Mandulee Mendis is a Sri Lankan writer. Her collections of short stories The Red Brick Wall (manuscript) and The Lanka Box were shortlisted for the Gratiaen Prize, the most coveted award given for Sri Lankan writing in English, consecutively in 2020 and 2021. Her writing has appeared in several international journals including Southeast Asian Review of English, Riptide Journal, Midway Journal, The Bombay Review, The Ekphrastic Review, and she has work forthcoming in Queen’s Quarterly and MockingOwl Roost. Her stories have won national and international awards including the Editor’s Choice Award of the Anthology of Short Stories: Spring 2022, Fenechty Publishing, UK. Ciara holds an M.A. in English Studies and is serving as an Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
