The man
in the torn pyjamas
used to collect
dead leaves
he would roam around
in the summer heat
with a sack on his back
quiet
humming to himself
picking up
one leaf
after another
jumping fences
sweat dripping off his forehead
sometimes
he would rest
on the pavements
drinking
from an old
bent up
yellow bottle
the water
was so yellow
you could mistake
it for piss
the man
who sold
carpets
made out of dead leaves
selling it
in the local market
waiting
in the evenings
for a solitary customer
dead leaves
meant the world to him
As much as it means
to the tress
